Hillary Clinton just stepped into the NFL National Anthem debate. Unsurprisingly, she’s taking the side of the NFL players, reported The Hill

The comments came last night while she was in the United Kingdom. Clinton is in London promoting her book “What Happened,” which covers the 2016 election.

She said they were taking a “reverent” position rather than a disrespectful one. That kneeling, she says, is not against “our anthem or our flag.”

The failed Democratic presidential candidate was at the Southbank Centre's London Literature Festival. During her talk, she urged Democrats to use the protest against President Trump and other Republicans.

“That's what black athletes kneeling was all about,” she said, referring to the purpose of the protests—to protest President Trump. ”That's not against our anthem or our flag.”

“Actually, kneeling is a reverent position,” she continued. “It was to demonstrate in a peaceful way against racism and injustice in our criminal system.”

While Clinton has said that she’s done with active participation in politics, she urged the Democratic Party to continue to “resist” the president. She said, “I think it would be a grave error for Democrats to recede from those fights, so therefore we have to stand up, fight back, resist.”

However, she also urged people to be careful how they react to the protest. She wants them to ignore “what are very clear dog-whistles” to the Trump base, referring to kneeling NFL players.

Clinton also took the opportunity to blame her 2016 loss on Russia. She compared their alleged interference to the September 11th terrorist attack.

“We have really well-respected security and intelligence veterans saying this was a kind of cyber 9/11 in the sense that it was a direct attack to American institutions,” she said. “That may sound dramatic but we know they tried to recruit into election systems, not just social media propaganda.”

President Trump also commented on her NFL opinions today. When asked about her London comments, Trump answered, “She’s wrong.”

“It’s that thinking…that is the reason that she lost the election,” he added.

He explained, “When you go down and take a knee or any other way, you’re sitting, essentially, for our great national anthem. You’re disrespecting our flag, and you’re disrespecting our country.”

He proceeded to explain how he would have dealt with the players. He said the NFL should have suspended them for one game and then one more each time they did it. He said that it would have stopped the protests in their tracks.

“If Hillary Clinton actually made a statement that, in a form, sitting down during our great national anthem, then I fully understand why she didn’t win,” concluded President Trump.

In other news, the day after she made the NFL comments, Hillary collapsed. She fell downstairs and broke a bone while on her book tour. Find out what happened.
