Pope Francis has caused quite the stir among the Catholic Church and the Catholic community by saying he is open to allowing married men to become priests.
He cited the declining number of priests being ordained as his reason for the consideration. Allowing married men to become priests would help in rural areas with smaller populations.
The main factor that distinguishes this announcement is that the Pope is only considering men who are currently married. Men who are single would not be allowed to marry and then become Priests.
At this time, voluntary celibacy is not an option, says the Pope.
