The nation is still in mourning after the terrible attack that took place in Las Vegas earlier in the week. In the days since the shooting spree that killed 59 people and wounded hundreds of others, police are still searching for details.
While the motive of the shooter is still unclear at this time, authorities are hunting for answers. One new discovery has just been released that paints a terrifying picture of the killer’s other plan.
According to Newsweek, Stephen Paddock was actually looking to escape from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay hotel. However, it appears the only thing that stopped him escaping and continuing on his terror spree was the arriving SWAT team.
“Las Vegas shooter Stephen Paddock had planned to escape from his 32nd-floor room at the Mandalay Bay hotel—but decided to leave a note and commit suicide as SWAT police closed in, according to police,” wrote Newsweek.
At this time, police have not yet revealed the information left on the note. They have also not revealed how Paddock planned to escape of where he was possibly headed after leaving the hotel. He could have continued his attack outside or possibly disappeared, only to plot another attack at a later date.
"He was doing everything possible to see how he could escape at this point," Clark County Sheriff Joseph Lombardo said, referring to the moment police closed in on his hotel room.
Please continue to pray for the victims and their families during this tragic time. We ask for God’s mercy on our nation so that an incident like this will never happen again. Also, read our breaking news article about the other targets Paddock possibly considered before choosing this one.
