Planned Parenthood CEO Cecile Richards plans to resign next week, according to LifeSite News. Rumors of Richards' retirement began after a Buzzfeed report, which cited two sources familiar with the organization.
According to Buzzfeed, a Planned Parenthood representative remarked that Richards plans to discuss 2018 and the next steps for Planned Parenthood's future at a board meeting soon coming up. It is claimed that Richards, 60, has revealed to several members of the organization that she plans to step down.
Richards has governed America's most notorious abortion provider since 2006, according to LifeSite News. Her salary has continued to increase throughout her time with the organization, permitting her to take over one million dollars every year from an organization that permits hundreds of thousands of abortions annually.
Planned Parenthood has come under fire for its willingness to cover up child sex abuse, aid-and-abet sex traffickers, and allegedly sell body parts of aborted babies for money.
According to Fox News:
"The abortion giant has enjoyed many years swindling taxpayers of their hard-earned dollars. They are a shady organization at best, a criminal organization at worst. The laundry list of possible crimes is exhaustive: illegally profiting off of the sale of aborted baby body parts (the Select Panel on Infant Lives in the US House of Representatives as well as the Senate Judiciary Committee has recommended national Planned Parenthood and several affiliates for criminal prosecution), covering up rape and child abuse, aiding and abetting sex traffickers, overbilling taxpayers by millions of dollars, and betraying the trust of women by giving confidential medical information to vendors."
"Richards has also led the organization through major scandal, following the release of secretly recorded and heavily edited videos made by ... activist David Daleiden in 2015," writes Buzzfeed. "The videos accused the organization of profiting off of the sale of fetal tissue to procurement firms and labs for scientific research."
Richards' departure would be very significant for Planned Parenthood. This is because Richards has been the face and voice of the organization, despite vehement opposition from Republicans in the government who have tried to strip funding from the organization.
Moreover, during her time with the organization, Richards has expanded fundraising and organizing capabilities. She also helped to raise the profile of the organization by running a celebrity-oriented campaign and increased political participation.
In fact, over the past decade, Democrats have further embraced the pro-abortion agenda as a part of its platform. This, according to Buzzfeed, is a shift in the party that can be attributed to Planned Parenthood's prominence under Richards.
An investigation released last year into Planned Parenthood’s health care services reveals that while they pride themselves on their prenatal services, in reality, these services hardly exist.
According to Fox News, who pulled statistics from Planned Parenthood's annual reports, prenatal services at the organization have been cut in half since 2009 and cancer screenings have been slashed since 2006. Even more troubling, says Fox News, is that from 2009 to 2013, Planned parenthood's adoption-abortion ration is 209-1.
Since 2006, Planned Parenthood has committed one in every five abortions. In 2015, that number went up to one in every three.
