Have you heard of Sharia? It's the set of laws in Islam that governs everything from dietary rules to politics.
In order to get more of the Muslim population to buy houses in his city, Seattle’s Democrat Mayor Ed Murray is working to institute an economic portion of Sharia. According to this WND article, Sharia forbids Muslims from paying interest on loans, so Seattle would have to restructure all loans in such a way that interest is not part of the package.
Mayor Murray said, “We will work to develop new tools for Muslims who are prevented from using conventional mortgage products due to their religious beliefs.”
Sound unfair? But that's not what Dr. Andrew Bostom, author of "Legacy of Jihad: Islamic Holy War and the Fate of Non-Muslims" believes is the worst part: He says, “Such dangerously misguided efforts kowtow to, and abet, Islamic supremacism."
Warning further, Pamela Geller, author of "Stop the Islamization of America," explains, “Sharia is a unified whole – a guide to every aspect of human behavior. It doesn’t just involve interest and loans. The teachings of Islam regarding war against and subjugation of unbelievers is part of Sharia as well. The mayor of Seattle is opening the door to Sharia, and because he has already shown himself to be compliant, he will receive more demands for accommodation of Sharia in the future. This is a radical, intolerant, violent, misogynistic, antisemitic ideology, and he should not be kowtowing to it.”
According to the article, the Obama administration has an immigration policy that allows for at least 100,000 Muslims to immigrate to America every year. Many lenders see the Muslim market as a potentially lucrative one and may go in the direction Seattle's Mayor is leading.
What do you think? Do you think it is fair? Do you think Seattle's concession will lead to many more? We would love to hear your thoughts!
