People Are Using Social Media To Find People Who Look Exactly Like Them; It’s Freaky

According to folklore, everyone has seven people who look just like them somewhere out in the world.

But with more than 7 billion people on earth, the likelihood of finding one seems infinitesimal — until now.

Through social media platforms, people are running into copies of themselves — sometimes accidentally but more often intentionally.

Sites like use facial recognition software to match users with other identical users and allows them to get to know each other in case they want to meet.

In some instances, these twin strangers actually do, and the similarities between them are jaw-dropping.

ABC Nightline sat down with Niamh Geaney, the creator of, who has used her technique to find three people that look exactly like her, according to the UK’s Daily Mail.
