‘Musical Genius, Legend’ Dies at 71

Musical arranger Paul Buckmaster, who many in the industry referred to as a “musical genius” and “music legend,” sadly passed away at 71 years old on Tuesday, November 7th. The news about his passing was not released until the following day and as of November 9th, a cause of death has not been released.

Although Buckmaster was more of a “behind the scenes” guy, he worked with several legendary artists including Elton John, the Rolling Stones, Grateful Dead, Guns N’ Roses, and David Bowie. More recently, he has also composed for pop singer Taylor Swift and country singer Faith Hill, reported the Rolling Stone.

The sad announcement was first made by McDaniel Entertainment via Twitter. A playlist was also included in the announcement, sharing some of Buckmaster’s most famous musical arrangements.

“It is with heavy hearts that we share our beloved friend and longtime client Paul Buckmaster has passed away. Paul’s iconic arrangements touched the world and he will be deeply missed.”
