Passenger Dragged Off United Airlines Flight Breaks His Silence
Dr. David Dao, the United Airlines passenger who was dragged off his flight from Chicago to Louisville broke his silence Tuesday via his attorney.
The 69-year old pulmonologist expressed his sincere thank you for the outpouring of prayers and encouragement he and his family have received since the incident.
“The family of Dr. Dao wants the world to know that they are very appreciative of the outpouring of prayers, concern and support they have received. Currently, they are focused only on Dr. Dao’s medical care and treatment,” said Chicago attorney Stephen L. Golan of Golan Christie Taglia, who represents the Dao family, along with Chicago aviation attorney Thomas A. Demetrio of Corboy & Demetrio.
Golan shared that until Dr. Dao is released from the hospital, the family is asking for privacy and will not be making any statements to the media.
United Airlines CEO Oscar Munoz expressed his apology for the “horrific” event that the company only recently acknowledged as such. In previous statements, employees remained staunchly in support of the procedure used to remove Dr. Dao from the aircraft.
“The truly horrific event that occurred on this flight has elicited many responses from all of us: outrage, anger, disappointment. I share all of those sentiments, and one above all: my deepest apologies for what happened,” Munoz wrote.
Munoz went further by admitting that United Airlines takes full responsibility for the incident, promising to look into and improve their methods when encountering a similar incident in the future.
