Bremerton High School football coach, Joe Kennedy was threatened by the administrators of the school and school district that if he didn’t stop praying publicly, he would be fired.
After every football game, coach Kennedy would kneel on the 50 yard line, bow his head, and thank the lord. Over time, players from his team and the opposing team would join in the prayer of their own free will.
According to Fox news, Superintendent Aaron Levell officially punished coach Kennedy for his Christian faith. He placed Kennedy on administrative leave. In the suspension letter he told Kennedy, “effective immediately, pending further District review of your conduct, you are placed on paid administrative leave from your position as an assistant coach with the Bremerton High School football program. You may not participate, in any capacity, in BHS football program activities.”
Despite coach Kennedy’s constitutional right to express his faith, Superintendent Aaron Levell made it quite clear his views on Christianity and the faithful people who practice it. “You violated those directives by engaging in overt, public and demonstrative religious conduct while still on duty as an assistant coach,” Leavell wrote.
Coach Kennedy is not going to back down from the bigoted and anti-Christian school district. He is being legally represented by the Liberty Institute.
Stay tuned! We will update as more news comes in.
Pray for coach Kennedy and for all people of faith who are being persecuted around this country for no other reason than that they are Christian.
