Disney has been under fire lately after promoting same-sex marriages in multiple children’s shows. The outrage first came about when the company announced that the release of the “Beauty and the Beast” remake would feature Disney’s first “exclusively gay moment.”
Around the same time, many same sex couples were shown kissing on an episode of Disney’s “Star vs. The Forces of Evil.” Following both features of promoting gay marriage, Christians and believers immediately called for a boycott.
However, despite boycott threats, Disney continues to incorporate same sex couples into children’s shows. Doc McStuffins, a popular Disney animation series on Disney Junior, just aired an episode containing a family with two mothers.
Lifesite News points out that the purpose of the episode was meant to teach children about the importance of developing an emergency plan in times of a crisis, such as an earthquake or a fire. In a video with Wanda Skyes, a lesbian actress who voices one of the moms, she touched on the fact that the episode shows a family that resembles hers.
She stated, “With this episode, they see a family that looks like our family. We’re two moms with a boy and a girl, two kids; It’s going to be very exciting for them to see that, to see our family represented."
Watch Wanda Skyes talk about the video below. After the video was released, many were very upset with Disney continuing to support non-Christian values. As one article stated, “Hey Disney! I don’t need DocMcStuffins to teach my child about same-sex relationships.”
Disney was also under fire recently after a concerned mother filed a lawsuit against the company. Read more details on the lawsuit here.
