The New York City Fire Department has come under heat recently for allowing 9 former felons to join the department. While the new recruits are still in the probationary phase, they are ultimately set to join the department upon successful completion of training, a fact citizens are uneasy about.
The department has now been accused of lowering it's standards to simply diversify its firefighters after allegations about unethical hiring practices hit the department in years past.
