On Thanksgiving day, a mother named Ellie Richardson was getting off from her bartending shift when she was almost hit by a van while walking across the street. She and the driver then got into a verbal argument, which escalated into him pulling out a gun.

According to Fox News, Richardson was shot in the face before the gunman made his escape. Thankfully, she is alive and in stable condition, but is suffering from multiple injuries and a long recovery process.

Richardson is an employee at “Lachey’s,” a local sports bar in Cincinnati, Ohio that is owned by singer Nick Lachey. Since the incident, Lachey has been very adamant about finding the suspect and helping bring justice to Richardson’s family.

A donation fund has been created in her name in order to assist with medical expenses. The family is hoping to raise $50,000 and is roughly halfway to that goal as of Sunday afternoon.

The donation page states:

“Ellie sustained injuries to her face and jaw resulting from a shooting that occurred early on Thanksgiving morning. She's in stable condition, but it's still unclear how long she'll be in the hospital and what her recovery process will entail. Funds from this campaign will go toward her medical expenses and help support her and her family until she's back on her feet. Any amount is sincerely appreciated, and we want this to reach as many people as possible so please feel free to share!”

The “98 Degrees” band member has taken to social media several times to spread awareness and encourage his followers to donate to the cause.
