49ers Linebacker Reuben Foster is not in a good place right now.
For the second time in less than a month, he’s been arrested, this time on domestic violence and assault weapons charges. According to ESPN, Los Gatos-Monte Sereno police confirmed Sunday night that Foster was arrested earlier that day.
At around 9:15 a.m. Sunday, police responded to a disturbance call at a Los Gatos residence. When police arrived, they spoke to Foster and the alleged victim. Foster was then arrested.
The 23-year-old was then transported and booked at the Santa Clara County Main Jail and held on a $75,000 bond, which was paid. He was released Sunday night.
On January 12, Foster was arrested in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and charged with second-degree marijuana possession, a Class A misdemeanor in that state. He was released later that night on a $2,5000 bond.
The 49ers organization released a statement Sunday night indicating that they are in the process of gathering facts regarding Foster and the situation.
“The San Francisco 49ers organization is aware of the report regarding Reuben Foster. W take matters of this nature seriously and are gathering all pertinent information,” the statement said.
The arrests are unfortunate for Foster, who enjoyed a successful rookie season with the 49ers, in which he was second on the Niners in tackles, with 72 in 10 games.
But several off-the-field incidents have plagued the talented linebacker. During last year’s NFL scouting combine, he was sent home early after an argument with a hospital worker. He also had a urine sample taken that was shown to be diluted which, according to the NFL’s policy on substances of abuse, was treated as a positive test.
