It is no secret that the mainstream media wants to deliver a political agenda rather than straight, unbiased facts. A new study, however, revealed just how tainted the content that the mainstream media streams can be.
The study was conducted by the Media Research Center. It lasted over a period of six days, between November 9 through November 14, and studied ABC, CBS, and NBC morning and evening newscasts.
The purpose of the study was to see how these outlets devoted their time to scandals among the two major political parties. The study shockingly revealed that mainstream media gives 52 times more coverage to scandals involving Republicans than to scandals involving Democrats.
Over those six days, the outlets reportedly generated around 104 minutes of airtime surrounding Republican Senate candidate Roy Moore. In contrast, only two minutes of coverage were dedicated to Democratic Senator Bob Menendez, who is currently on trial in a federal corruption case.
Additionally, the research center noted that since Menendez’ trial heightened in September, NBC has not given it any coverage. Though it is an important and timely trial, not many people have been made aware of it or been updated.
The Daily Wire pointed out the fact that it makes more sense for Moore’s allegations to receive more airtime than Menendez’, given the nature of the allegations. However, these outlandish statistics are not exclusive to this example. Additionally, the Democrat’s trial actually stemmed from other, more serious allegations dealing with prostitution in the Dominican Republic.
What do you think about this? Should the mainstream media be fairer in their coverage? Let us know your thoughts. In other recent news, an iconic TV host just passed away from cancer at 64.
