A new Senate bill can save thousands of lives, but there are only two weeks to convince a majority to vote for it. LifeSite reports that earlier this week, four Republican senators released a new Obamacare replacement bill that defunds Planned Parenthood, permits states to opt out of the HHS contraceptive mandate, and ends Obamacare's funding of abortions.

Senate rules provide just over two weeks to pass the bill with a simple majority. The bill was introduced by Senator Lindsey Graham, Bill Cassidy, Dean Heller, and Ron Johnson. Former Senator Rick Santorum accompanied the Senators as they announced the bill.

The Republican effort to strip Planned Parenthood of federal funding and end the Obama-era efforts that assault the right to life has had several setbacks in past months. The most notable setback came in July. In the dark morning hours of July 28, Senator John McCain, still recovering from surgery, made his way into the Senate Chamber. He raised up his hand and put his thumb downward, signaling that he was a "no" vote on a skinny repeal of Obamacare, which defunded Planned Parenthood, an organization that commits more than 300,000 abortions every year.

Liberals rejoiced at McCain's 'no' vote, but pro-life Christians were outraged. The Arizona Senator, who had just found out he had cancer, surprised everyone, especially since he had voted 'yes' to allow debate and voting to proceed on the skinny repeal bill.

Of course, the Obamacare replacement bill introduced by these four Republican senators doesn't just deal with abortion and Planned Parenthood. It also spends money on Medicaid Expansion, Obamacare tax credits, cost-sharing subsidies and health plan dollars. Moreover, the bill provides states with regulatory flexibility to lower premiums and expand coverage. It also ends Obamacare's individual and employer mandates, as well as the medical device tax.

LifeSite reports that the pro-life Susan B. Anthony List praised Graham and others for introducing the bill. They are apparently closely examining the bill's pro-life language. LifeNews also seems to be in favor of the bill, which is evident in a sympathetic articled published on their website earlier this week.

“It is extremely encouraging to see pro-life senators led by Lindsey Graham and Bill Cassidy offering new ideas and solutions to enact a healthcare reform reconciliation bill for FY17,” said SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser according to LifeSite. “SBA List will need time to review the language carefully to ensure that it will roll back taxpayer funding of abortion under Obamacare and redirect abortion giant Planned Parenthood’s tax funding to community health centers.”

According to LifeNews, President Donald Trump, who has a pro-life record as president, has promised to sign a bill to defund Planned Parenthood if they continue to perform abortions.
