In order to make this setup work well, all the window seat passengers must board first before the middle seat then aisle seat passengers. Passengers also must board from back to front to keep the aisles double-wide as long as possible.
The amount of coordination that would involve at the gate to the plane seems staggering.
Still, the Federal Aviation Administration is planning to test the new seat design this year, and the company developing them says they have a lot of big aircraft manufacturers interested.
