A movie actor and film star has just been arrested on felony charges for what police just discovered in his car. It appears some serious jail time could possibly be in his future.
Jermaine Hopkins, mostly known for his starring role in “Lean on Me” with Morgan Freeman, has just been arrested. Apparently, officers stopped him after he was caught speeding in his car.
Hopkins was going 70 MPH in a 55 MPH zone. Upon further investigation, police discovered he was in possession of drugs and has been charged with a felony.
“Law enforcement sources tell us cops in Apex, NC spotted Jermaine driving 70 in a 55 last week. Once they pulled him over cops say they found 5.7 lbs. of weed in his trunk and arrested him for felony drug possession with intent to sell,” according to TMZ.
Officers also issued a speeding ticket to Hopkins. He was charged and later released after posting $3,000 in bail money.
Unfortunately, this isn't the first time Hopkins has had trouble with drugs and law enforcement. In 2011, he was caught buying 200 lbs. of pot from an undercover cop. In that case, he received 3 years of probation. However, it seems he didn't learn his lesson!
Sources have reached out to Hopkins for comment on the arrest but no word has been publicly received yet. It will be interesting to see if the judge gives him probation again or if he assigns actual jail time.
