Military Draft: Republican Lawmakers Are Proposing WHAT?

In a startling move, two Republican lawmakers — Rep. Duncan Hunter of California and Rep. Ryan Zinke of Montana — introduced a bill this morning that would require women 18 to 26 to register for the draft. But their motives in introducing the legislation may be different than you think.

According to Fox News, the bill is in response of top Marines and Army leaders who earlier this week requested the draft registration requirement now that all combat jobs have been opened to women.

Neither Hunter nor Zinke believe women should serve in every military role but rather created the bill to generate a discussion in Congress rather than leaving the debate in the military.

Hunter explains, “It’s wrong and irresponsible to make wholesale changes to the way America fights its wars without the American people having a say on whether their daughters and sisters will be on the front lines of combat.”

Do you agree with Hunter and Zinke's reason for introducing this bill?
