In the aftermath of the mass shooting at a church in Texas, the country has gone into mourning. Certain Democrats, however, have used the shooting as an opportunity to push through their long-desired gun control legislation. Among these Democrats is Hollywood actress and singer Miley Cyrus.
In the wake of the shooting in Texas, Fox News reports that Miley Cyrus is fed up with gun violence and President Donald Trump.
On Monday, Cyrus posted an image on Instagram which listed the victims of the attack. She then included a very emotional comment underneath the photo, where she lamented how disgusting such an act is. She the then pointed out that the man is a terrorist and a "WHITE AMERICAN MAN!" and that she is disgusted at her country for not taking action to combat gun violence by implementing gun control laws.
Later on, Cyrus decided that after writing her first controversial post, it would be a good idea to write a second one. In the next post, she called out President Trump and criticized his reaction to the tragedy.
“I'd like to believe that EVERY person who takes the life of another being is ‘mentally ill,’” she said, quoting the president, according to Fox News. “It's hard to conceptualize that a sane human could commit such a hideous crime. BUT I am sorry Donald Trump this absolutely is a ‘GUNS SITUATION.’”
Cyrus then responded to critics who were upset that she needed to point out the skin color of the shooter. Apparently, the skin color, gender, and religion of the shoot is very important when that person happens to be white. Although there was no mention by Cyrus that the shooter was a militant anti-Christian and atheist.
The "Wrecking Ball" singer demanded: “DONT START to be all innocent! Gender, race, & religion HAS and continues to matter for all the wrong reasons & that's only the beginning of how backward this country is!”
Cyrus then defended herself, claiming that she doesn't actually hate white men because she personally knows and interacts with several of them, most notably her father and two brothers.
Breitbart News writes that her push comes in spite of the fact that the shooter passed a background check for his rifle. It also comes in spite of President Trump's claim that new gun laws wouldn't do any good.
According to the New York Times, the gunman who killed 26 people in a rural Texas church on Sunday once escaped from a psychiatric hospital. The escape occurred when he was in the Air Force after he made numerous death threats against his superiors and smuggled weapons onto the base in 2012. It was one year after escaping from this psychiatric facility that he again pleaded guilty, but this time in a military court to repeatedly assaulting his wife and her son, a toddler. For this crime, he was sentenced to a year in Navy prison.
In breaking news, Stephen King just got slammed for an outrageous tweet about the Texas church shooting.
