Since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced their engagement, people have been conjecturing about the details of their wedding. Speculation particularly surrounded who would walk Markle, whose parents are divorced, down the aisle.
Now her half-sister says that their father will walk the actress down the aisle when she weds Prince Harry in May, reported People.
There had been conflicting reports about whether Thomas Markle or Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland, would play that pivotal role in the wedding ceremony. On Monday, Samantha Grant, who is the actress’s half-sister from her father’s first marriage, commented on the rumors during an appearance on the U.K. morning show The Wright Stuff.
“Yes he is [planning to walk her down the aisle],” she said. “He will be there one way or the other. Any rumor to the contrary is... my favorite new word is becoming ‘Oh, rubbish.’ He will be there.”
However, Thomas doesn't appear to play a large role in Markle's life. Harry said that he had yet to meet Thomas, a former television lighting director who lives in Mexico.
This isn't the first time that Grant has commented on Meghan and Harry's relationship. Last month, she replied to Harry's remark that Meghan had a “fantastic” Christmas with the “family she’s never had.”
Grant replied to his comment, saying “She has a large family. She always did. Our dad is amazing and completely self-sacrificing,” she tweeted in December. “We made it so that she had two houses. How fun it was!”
However, when speaking about the situation on Monday, she took a less hard line on the situation.
“I don’t think [Harry] meant it that way,” she said. “He was referring to the family all being in one place, and it’s lovely that she can have that. It was more a matter of timing and geography. I wasn’t hurt. Harry said a lovely thing. Marrying merely extends that family.”
Grant, who is releasing a memoir "The Diary of Princess Pushy’s Sister," says she hasn't received an invitation yet—since they haven't gone out—but she hopes to be invited to the wedding.
She said in a comment directed at Meghan: “I am incredibly proud of you. We will sit down and have tea and I look forward to it.”
In other news, the internet is melting over Princess Charlotte's first day of school photos. They're precious!
