Actor Matt Damon has made headlines for many years for his successful career in Hollywood. Unfortunately, he is now in the media spotlight for a heartbreaking reason.
The actor is asking for prayers after many have wondered why he has canceled recent public appearances. He has just opened up to share the reason behind his absence.
Damon, who is the star of the recent film "Downsizing," shared in a recent interview with "Extra" about the state of his dad's health. His father, Kent Damon, has been battling cancer for the last several years.
Damon shared, “It’s been a slow, unfolding, my dad’s sick, so that's been a process we're going through.” He went on to say, "We'll take any prayers you got, so throw 'em up there."
It has been reported that due to his father's health, Damon has missed the recent appearances in order to be by his side. Kent's fight against cancer began in 2011 when he was diagnosed with multiple myeloma.
Following the diagnosis, Matt said back in 2011 they plan to “fight it to a standstill," in regards to his father's incurable disease.
Although it is unimaginable to watch your father go through an ordeal like this one, MAtt's dad is so proud of him. He recently opened up about his gratitude for Matt and his love for being Matt's dad.
"He's all you could ever ask for in a son. It's been a wonderful ride being his dad," said Kent.
