37-year-old Brandon Vezmar is suing his movie date for texting too much during a showing of “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.”
According to Austin American-Statesman, Vezmar claims his movie outing with a woman he was interested in turned into the “first date from hell” after she started texting during the film, looking at her phone screen 10 to 20 times in a short period of time.
After an irritated Vezmar told her to go outside to text, his date left him in her car, stranding him at an Alamo Drafthouse Cinema in Austin.
A few days later, Verzmar texted her multiple times demanding that she refund him $17.31, the cost of the 3D movie ticket.
The woman refused, pointing out that it was he who had taken her out on a date.
She also argued that she did not text in the theater as many times as he claimed and was merely trying to help a friend who was having a fight with a boyfriend.
But now, as of last Thursday, Verzmar is suing for the full price of the ticket. Yes, he is actually taking her to court for $17.31.
“While damages sought are modest, the principle is important as defendant’s behavior is a threat to civilized society,” he insisted.
The woman believe he’s crazy and has filed a protective order against him.
It’s not clear if Verzmar has found a new date since.
