Johnson & Johnson, the largest independent biotech company in the world, is currently under their fourth case of people claiming their baby products are linked to cancer.
Johnson & Johnson is very well-known or their popular line of baby products. Many parents use the ‘baby powder’ on their children and the product is also commonly used among adults.
The company states they strive to ‘put the needs and well-being of the people we serve first’, but some consumers have sued the company for ‘covering up the possible cancer risk of their baby powder.’
According to the Associated Press, a 62-year-old woman was awarded $110 million after claiming her ovarian cancer was developed from using Johnson & Johnson baby powder.
Three others have made similar claims in the past, including a case where the plaintiff was awarded $72 million.
The claims result from the baby powder being a talc based product, which research is currently undergoing to determine if the substance is directly related to forms of cancer.
Johnson & Johnson is standing by the safety of their products and are in the process of appealing all cases.
Do you use these products? If so, are you concerned at all?
