This afternoon, talk show host Larry King, 83, got into a car accident. Luckily, he was OK, but his Mercedes-Benz wasn’t so lucky.
He got into the wreck in the heart of Beverly Hills. He was seen surveying the damage, reported TMZ.
Both King and the other driver were looked at by paramedics, but they told TMZ that they are both fine. Police also shared that it’s unclear who is at fault in the accident. However, a witness told TMZ that they thought King was to blame.
Neither of them was able to drive their cars away from the scene of the accident. Neither driver was cited.
This isn’t the first time that King has been in a fender bender. He got into a car accident with president-to-be John F. Kennedy in 1958.
King was living in South Florida when he literally ran into John F. Kennedy on Worth Avenue in Palm Beach.
“Not as in, ‘saw him shopping.’ As in, ‘rammed his convertible with a ratty old car,’ shared King in an interview with Pop Matters.
At the time, Kennedy was America’s most famous senator. King related how angry JFK was with him.
“’How could you?’ he roared. ‘Early Sunday morning, no traffic, not a cloud in the sky, I’m parked — how could you run into me?’”
King’s excuse was that he was new to Palm Beach, and he’d been looking at the stores. But he didn’t tell JFK that. Instead, he just asked him if he wanted to exchange information.
“Eventually he calmed down, and he said he’d forget the whole thing if we just promised to vote for him when he ran for president,” recalls King.
They then drove off. But, King added, JFK told him to “stay way behind.”
Obviously, he had good reason to tell him to stay far behind! Should 83-year-old Larry King even be driving anymore? In other news, a famous country star just shared his engagement news. Read about how he's going to marry his high school sweetheart.
