On Wednesday, Justin Bieber spoke out for the first time about the cancellation of his world tour. The artist had several stops left to make on his “Purpose World Tour,” but canceled all remaining shows due to “unforeseen circumstances.”
Fans around the world were wondering why Bieber made this seemingly abrupt decision. Some thought that it had to do with his faith. Others blamed it on his “bad behavior” and the fact that he was banned from performing in China.
Finally, Justin Bieber opened up about why he made the decision to end his tour early. He posted a heartfelt letter on Wednesday to his Instagram account.
In it, the 23-year-old said that he wants people to know his heart, even though he knows that not everyone will understand. He thanked his fans for support even through this confusing time.
He said, “Learning and growing hasn’t always been easy but knowing I’m not alone has kept me going. I have let my insecurities get the best of me at times, I let my broken relationships dictate the way I acted toward people and the way I treated them! I let bitterness, jealousy and fear run my life!!!”
Bieber said that he does not want his former decisions and relationships to dictate his future decisions and relationships.
He said, “I’m VERY aware I’m never gonna be perfect, and I’m gonna keep making mistakes but what I’m not gonna do is let my past dictate my future…I wanna be a man that learns from [mistakes] and grows from them!!”
The focus of the letter was his current state of being, though he briefly mentioned the tour and thanked everyone who was supportive of it.
He said, “I want you all to know this tour has been unbelievable and has taught me so much about myself…I am reminded of how blessed I am to have a voice in this world. I’ve learned the more you appreciate your calling the more you want to protect your calling.”
Bieber admitted that he wants his “career to be sustainable,” along with his heart and soul. He finished it with opening up about his desire to become a man, husband, and father that he is proud of.
