On July 11th of 2017, President Trump made headlines after a photo was posted of evangelical leaders gathering around and praying over him in the Oval Office. The picture, originally shared by Liberty University's former vice president Johnnie Moore, quickly went viral. See the photo below.
Multiple news outlets also covered the topic, bringing public prayer to the attention of people across the nation. However, much of the mainstream media criticized President Trump and the evangelical leaders present at the prayer meeting. Erin Burnett from CNN even referred to the prayer time as ‘strange’.
However, many Christians and Believers are extremely proud of our president and the Trump administration for bringing God back into the public eye of our country. Trump supporters took to Twitter to give him praise, including singer Joy Villa.
She stated, “Why on earth is it ‘strange’ to pray in public? They truly will attack anything @POTUS does and make it a ‘story’. Keep praying we love you!”
Joy Villa became a popular name after she wore a ‘Make America Great Again’ dress to the Grammy Awards in 2017. Later in the same year, she also released a ‘Make America Great Again’ song. Throughout her popularity, she has consistently expressed her support for President Trump online and during interviews.
