J.J. Watt, NFL defensive end for the Houston Texans, has made major headlines for creating a hurricane relief fund following Hurricane Harvey’s tragic aftermath. All funds raised will directly benefit members of the community and the victims of the destructive hurricane.
As of September 11th, 2017, Watt has raised over $31 million from over 200,000 supporters. Many well-known names donated to Watt’s fund including Ellen Degeneres, Miley Cyrus, and “The Tonight Show.”
Hurricane victims, fans, and other sports stars and celebrities are very proud of Watt’s accomplishment. Watt’s family is also of course very proud of him, especially his great grandmother.
ESPN shared a photo of his grandma wearing a Texans jersey to church on Sunday morning with Watt’s number on it, “99.” Instead of saying “Watt,” the jersey reads, “Great Grandma.” See the sweet photo below.
Watt’s grandma is currently 99 years old, the same number Watt rocks out on the field. According to One Country, she will turn 100 years old on September 29th.
What a sweet story! If you live this uplifting story about J.J. Watt's grandma, share it on your Facebook page and please continue to pray for the victims of Hurricane Harvey. If you’re interested in donating to J.J. Watt’s fund yourself, you can visit the official donation website here.
Additionally, please pray for the people of Florida as they deal with the aftermath of Hurricane Irma. Although these are tragic situations, a pastor recently answered “where God is” in the midst of these troubles. Thank you for your prayers!
