Jennifer Lawrence, Oscar-winning actress best-known for her star role in “The Hunger Games,” has made a name for herself this year regarding her various political comments. The well-known, award-winning actress has starred in several other films including “Passengers,” “Silver Linings Playbook,” and the “X-men” series.
Earlier in September, Lawrence made a bizarre remark, insinuating that President Trump and his supporters are to blame for the recent hurricanes. During an interview that took place at the premiere of her newest movie, “Mother!,” she stated, “We voted, and it was really startling. You know, you're watching these hurricanes now, and it's really hard, especially while promoting this movie, not to...feel Mother Nature's rage, or wrath."
After Lawrence faced massive outrage from her followers, she posted a follow-up statement, claiming that she “did not blame Trump” for the recent natural disasters in America. She said that her original comment was “taken grossly out of context.” Read her full response below.
In response to her post, many people commented that she “clearly implied Mother Nature was punishing us for voting for Trump.” Others told her directly that they are no longer a fan of hers because of her ridiculous political statements.
One user said, “Being a great actress aside; you and all your liberal lunatic friends in Hollywood are making every situation worse by opening your uninformed and out of touch comments that make literally no sense at all...It's really disturbing that you believe the things you do and more worrying that you're so out of touch with the real world that the first thought that formulates is that this is somehow trumps fault.”
Another user posted her exact quote in the comments and said, “This wasn’t misquoted. You said something dumb, whether you meant to or not. Show some maturity and own up to it...The least she could have done is admit the poor choice of words, but that’s just me.”
As Breitbart worded the situation, “Jennifer Lawrence's hateful mouth is destroying her career.” What do you think about Jennifer Lawrence’s defensive comment? Share our thoughts on our Facebook page.
