Israeli singer and director, Amir Fryszer Guttman, tragically passed away after a drowning incident that left him to be remembered as a hero. The drowning took place at a beach where the singer and his closest family and friends had gone to celebrate his “new birthday.”
The celebration was in honor of the first anniversary of the date on which doctors informed him that he had been misdiagnosed with cancer and that in fact, he actually had a much less severe disease, according to reports. Amir and friends, along with his niece, then decided to get in the water.
“Amir entered the water with his niece Shachar and another friend Yael. Within moments they began drifting away,” said singer Michal Amdursky, a close personal friend of Guttman who was with him at the beach. “Amir held Shachar above water so that she wouldn’t drown. He was utterly fatigued. My husband Jeffrey and two other surfers went into the ocean to rescue him. The ocean was harsh, and did not allow them to reach the coast quickly. Amir swallowed a lot of water.”
Amir held his niece for just long enough as surfers rescued her from the waves. However, he fell victim to the tides. Doctors and hospital staff members worked their best to save him but were unsuccessful.
“He was evacuated to Rambam Hospital in Haifa, unconscious and without a pulse, while doctors performed resuscitation procedures,” according to reports.
“To our sorrow, despite intense efforts, he died of multiple organ failures,” said Dr. Yaron Bar Lavi of Haifa’s Rambam Medical Center. He never regained consciousness.”
Please join us in praying for his family and friends. May God’s healing peace touch their lives during this difficult time. If you would like to learn about a country singer who also tragically died this week, read our other article here.
