On Tuesday, a terror attack took place in New York City. A 29-year-old man driving a Home Depot truck rammed into bicyclists and pedestrians, before eventually being shot by police.
8 people were killed in the attack and 12 others were injured. In light of the recent attack, NBC host Kathy Lee Gifford opened up about the sovereignty of God.
Gifford was in an interview with CBN when she spoke out about the attack. She was quick to remind the audience that even in dark times, "Jesus is always the answer."
Gifford said, "God is sovereign of all things. His ways are not ours, His thoughts are not our thoughts. We have to trust that He has it in control, even when it seems that everything is out of control."
The TV host then addressed the common question of why a good God would allow this kind of evil to take place.
Gifford said, "He is a loving God. Terrorism did this, not God. People say to me, 'how could a loving God allow this to happen?' I always say, 'Well a loving God loved us enough to give us freedom of will.'"
She went on to explain that God would never prompt this kind of evil. She said, "Nobody that has received the sovereignty and the love of God into their hearts bears that kind of evil in their heart towards any other human being."
"What you are seeing is freedom of will," she continued. "Some people choose to use their freedom to harm and to hurt."
Later, Gifford called the recent violence the "antithesis of Jesus."
