House Passes Obamacare Replacement; Here’s What Happens Next
After a failed attempt to bring the Obamacare replacement American Health Care Act to a vote in the House of Representatives in March, Republican leaders were victorious Thursday after it passed 217 to 213.
The vote was largely along party lines, according to the Associated Press.
Now the bill will head to the Senate where it is expected to undergo a lot of changes to satisfy senators who feel it’s too harsh.
Before the vote, President Trump wrote on Twitter: “Insurance companies are fleeing ObamaCare — it is dead. Our healthcare plan will lower premiums & deductibles — and be great healthcare!”
And amidst the debate leading up to the vote, he said, “I am watching the Democrats trying to defend the ‘you can keep you doctor, you can keep your plan & premiums will go down’ ObamaCare lie."
