Hollywood producer and director Judd Apatow — known for off-color comedies like “40-Year-Old Virgin,” “Knocked Up,” “Bridesmaids,” and “Girls” — has just threatened all supporters of President Trump.
In the wake of riots Wednesday evening at UC Berkeley that resulted in windows being smashed, things being set on fire, police getting hit with projectiles, and Trump supporters getting attacked, Apatow sent out a tweet informing those who support the president that “This is just the beginning,” according to The Daily Caller.
Aside from promising more violence, he also insulted every Trump supporter by writing, “When will all the fools who are still supporting Trump realize what is at stake?”
After being hit by a backlash of replies by people accusing him of calling for more riots and threatening bodily harm to more Trump supporters, Apatow deleted the tweet.
Then he tried to simultaneously justify and “clarify” his comment while also taking another swipe at Trump supporters.
His follow-up tweet reads: “I deleted my tweet because it was vague. I never support violence. I do support peaceful protest against hateful people and awful ideas.”
This is certainly not the first time Apatow has said something ridiculous in regards to Trump.
Shortly before Trump’s inauguration, he blamed Trump’s victory for his weight gain because it compelled him to stress eat.
“It’s very hard to lose weight in the Trump era,” he said at the time. “I’m trying so hard to have it not turn into 30 pounds. There’s so many things that are hard to hear every day that you do want to have some Oreos.”
Speaking for other celebrities and activists, he added, “Most of us are just scared and eating ice cream.”
