Following the law shouldn’t be so difficult, especially as one of the top officials in the Obama administration. In light of Hillary Clinton’s egregious security breach, one would expect government officials to be vigilant in guarding state secrets. Unfortunately, another email scandal is about to erupt.
According to Yahoo News, U.S. Defense Secretary Ash Carter revealed on Thursday that until “a few months ago,” he used a personal email account to conduct government business.
“I should have known better,” Carter told reporters, “It’s not like I didn’t have the opportunity to understand what the right thing to do was. I didn’t do the right thing.”
Carter’s statement can be considered the understatement of the year. The United States is experiencing massive cyber attacks from countries across the globe. The government is having enough trouble fending off those attacks with the security systems in place. Why are top officials in the Obama administration making it easier for classified information to fall into the wrong hands?
