Known for leading many to God and for his unwavering faith, Billy Graham is coined as “God’s ambassador”. The American evangelist is best known for his foundation, the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, whose sole mission was to “[proclaim] the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ to all we can by every effective means available and [to equip] the Church and others to do the same”.
The preacher and evangelist is currently 98 years old and is gearing up for his 99th birthday in November. With the health concerns that come with old age, many people have been asking his son, Franklin Graham, about his fathers condition. Franklin recently took to his Facebook page to update followers.
He said, “Some have asked about an update on my father Billy Graham. He's now approaching his 99th birthday in November, and while he is doing well, he does have the physical challenges that come with his age.”
He went on to write that Mr. Graham still enjoys visits from family, including his only living sister Jean Graham Ford. Along with family, Mr. Graham’s pastor, Don Wilton, still visits weekly.
Franklin wrote, “This has been a tradition of prayer and encouragement for more than 20 years- we are so grateful to Pastor Wilton.”
Not only does Wilton pray with Billy Graham, he also practices his upcoming sermons with him. This is a tradition that has been going on for decades.
Franklin also noted that Billy Graham keeps “constant companion” with his pet “Kitty”. He said that the cat was a “gift from all of us children on his 90th birthday and continues to be by his side”.
Billy’s wife, Ruth, passed away in 2007. The couple was married for 64 years and had 5 children.
Even at his hold age, Franklin said that Billy Graham still loves receiving ministry updates and will chime in with the occasional, “Amen”. His son thanked everyone for concerns and prayer for his father. The world is a better place with Billy Graham in it and we are thankful for his good health and spirit.
