Christopher McDonald, best known for his role as Shooter McGavin in ‘Happy Gilmore,’ was arrested on Saturday night. Police picked him up for drunk driving around 9 pm on October 28th, reported TMZ.
The 62-year-old actor was stopped in the Lake Arrowhead, California area. An eyewitness saw him drive his classic Porsche off the highway and take out a gas meter.
After he took out the gas meter, his car ended up in an embankment. Pictures obtained by TMZ show exactly how drunk McDonald was. One picture shows the front bumper hanging off his car.
The eyewitness also TMZ that McDonald played the celebrity card. When they came up to his card, he told them he starred in the 1996 comedy Happy Gilmore. Unsurprisingly, they weren’t impressed.
Police officers booked him and McDonald spent the night in jail. He was likely released at some point on Sunday.
This isn’t McDonald’s first run-in with the law. The “Thelma & Louise” star received a DWI in 2013 after being arrested in Wilmington, North Carolina.
At the time, he blew .15, which is almost double the legal limit. He said he’d spent the evening drinking with some fans. He was released a few hours later after the producers of his film, “The Squeeze,” bailed him out.
During the summer of 2017, McDonald offered advice to Tiger Woods after he was arrested for a DUI in May. McDonald said he’d “cleaned up his life” and Woods could do the same.
“I went through it myself, I got off. He'll get off,” he told TMZ.
McDonald apparently did not clean up his life. Hopefully, there will be more ramifications for his actions this second time.
In other news, just like actresses are speaking out about abuse in Hollywood, models are coming forward to identify a similar environment in the fashion industry.
