Republican State Representative Mike Moon of Missouri is certainly not a slick, big city politician. And he’s a far cry from many of the polished representatives we send to D.C.
And that’s why it’s not surprising that he sparked outraged from pro-abortion liberals when he slaughtered a live chicken during a Facebook video where he told his followers about his bill to end abortion in his state, according to The Hill. In the video posted Monday, Moon is seen outside holding the head of a live chicken that’s been suspended upside down.
“When the governor called for the second special session this year, I was right in the middle of my summer job,” Moon begins. “But like any good career politician, when I get the call…”
He trailed off as he twisted the chicken’s head off, resulting in the headless body flapping its wings frantically.
“...I’m going to work,” Moon said.
The scene then shifts to Moon butchering the now-lifeless chicken.
“God gave us dominion over life,” he continued. “He allows us to raise animals properly and care for them and then process them for food so we can sustain life. That’s what I’m doing here with this chicken.”
“So we’ve been called back to this special session for the primary purpose of supporting life, protecting the unborn specifically. And I think we need to get to the heart of the matter here,” he said, holding up the chicken heart he had just extracted. “So today I’m filing a bill that will lead to the stopping of abortion in the state of Missouri, and I hope you’ll support it.”
Moon was hit with a backlash of criticism by Facebook commentators that didn’t like him comparing the slaughtering of a chicken to abortion.
Moon replied, “Some people seem to be freaking out about the chicken video... I wonder if they know what an abortion is?”
