Evita Delmundo, a 20-year-old girl from Malaysia, recently auditioned for Miss Universe Malaysia 2018. Her inspiring story has been grabbing the attention of many around the world.
Instead of showcasing a unique talent or her good looks, Delmundo’s hope is to encourage others that inner beauty is what matters most. Delmundo was born with a unique condition of having moles all over her body, but that’s not stopping her from living out her dream.
Delmundo told Today that her moles make her ‘unique’ and give her ‘inner strength’. She states, "I feel like I'm so happy because I can open [other people's] minds and eyes that beauty [doesn't come] from a perfect face or body size."
Today also reports in an earlier interview, she said, “It's always been a dream for me to try out for Miss Universe Malaysia. I feel like it's a good way for me to showcase my uniqueness and newfound confidence, and hopefully I can also inspire others...Knowing that I have such a positive effect on others really keeps me going.”
When she was younger, she faced bullies consistently because of her appearance. She wanted to get her moles removed, but it would have been a huge risk to her health. Eventually, she learned to accept and embrace herself.
Callbacks for Miss Universe will occur at the end of July. If you love Evita Delmundo’s story, please share this article on your Facebook page! Thank you!
