Girl Scout Leader Accused of Stealing Cookies; How Many? It Will Blow Your Mind
How many boxes of Girl Scouts cookies is too many? How about 6,000?
That’s how many a Kentucky Girl Scout troop leader is accused of stealing, according to CNN.
26-year-old Leah Ann Vick was arrested Monday after allegedly making off with $26,000 in cookie sales.
"It is not clear if the troops sold the cookies and she kept the money or she sold the cookies herself and kept the money," said Commonwealth Attorney Rick Bartley.
Vick is accused of ordering all the cookies but never giving the sales money back to the organization. She’s reportedly been making excuses for not handing in the money since February.
Wilderness Road Girl Scout marketing director Haleigh McGraw remarked, "Right now our biggest concern is actually focusing on recovering and maintaining the troop for the girls. They use those funds for service projects, educational trips. The biggest point of the cookies sale is actually financial literacy.
Vick faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted.
By the way, if you were place 6,000 girl scout cookie boxes end to end, they would stretch the length of approximately 9 to 10 football fields.
That’s a lot of dough.
