In a country where Islamic terrorist attacks are becoming a common fact of life, a terrorist opened fire on a Paris police van Thursday, killing one officer and seriously wounding two others in front of the iconic Arc de Triomphe on the Champs-Élysées.

The attacker, who was killed by police, has been identified as Karim Cheurfi, according to UK’s The Telegraph.

He was reportedly inspired by ISIS and was on a terrorist watch list because intelligence services knew he had been radicalized.

Back in 2001, he was jailed for several years for trying to kill police officers. In February, he was detailed after someone claimed he was “seeking to obtain weapons to kill policemen” but was released due to a lack of evidence.

Now far-right presidential candidate Marine Le Pen is saying enough is enough with France’s current policies for handling suspected terrorists. She has a different solution.

Friday morning, she said, “This war against us is ceaseless and merciless,” and it’s time to deport all foreigners on the terrorist watch list and pull France out of the European Union so it can finally secure its own borders.

In America, President Trump acknowledged that this attack could have an effect on France's upcoming election, writing on Twitter: "Another terrorist attack in Paris. The people of France will not take much more of this. Will have a big effect on presidential election!"
