There has definitely been antagonism from North Korea before, but this latest threat seems very serious. After President Trump recently stated that North Korea's threats would not be tolerated, the authoritarian nation responded with a very specific threat against the U.S.
"North Korea best not make any more threats to the United States," the president warned, hours after reports that North Korea had developed a nuclear weapon small enough to fit on a missile. "They will be met with fire, fury and frankly power the likes of which this world has never seen before."
But since that threat, the Wall Street Journal reports that North Korea has threatened to fire missiles at Guam, a U.S. territory in the Pacific. This is the most specific threat North Korea has made against America, and it rightly has Franklin Graham concerned. He urges Americans to pray for wisdom for the Trump administration in his latest Facebook post.
Graham has been a Trump supporter from the beginning and believes that God put him in office for such a time as this. Many others feel the same, as you can read in the comments to Graham's post--saying that they are glad he is in office to face this threat instead of Obama, who was often seen as weak on international security issues.
Trump's secretary of state, Rex Tillerson, backed the president's strong language, reports CNN. "I think what the President was doing was sending a strong message to North Korea in language that Kim Jong Un would understand because he doesn't seem to understand diplomatic language," Tillerson told reporters.
North Korea also recently aired a children's cartoon that had an insidious message within it against the US. What do you think of the escalating situation between America and North Korea?
Do you think Trump is doing the right thing by being strong? Please share your prayers in the comments! Thank you so much!
