Former President Bush Trashes THIS Presidential Contender And Former Campaign Member

A presidential candidate knows that they are a serious contender once they start being attacked not only by the media, but also past presidents.

According to Fox News, former president George W. Bush appeared at a meeting of donors to try and drum up support for his brother Jeb’s campaign.  Bush accused Cruz of sucking up to Trump and when asked about Cruz, Bush said “I just don’t like the guy.”

Those are harsh words spoken against a man who worked on the foreign policy committee of Bush’s 2000 presidential campaign.  It just goes to show that anything goes during election season.  Former allies will cannibalize each other in order to attain the highest office.

Bush did acknowledge that Cruz has a large support base in Texas and the South because of his stance on religious freedom.  The acknowledgment shows that Cruz is a real threat to Bush’s campaign.  In national polls Cruz and Bush are in a virtual tie for 3rd place in the race.  Bush’s campaign surely realized that going after Trump would only backfire.  So they chose the candidate closest to them in the polls.

Cruz refused to play in the mud with Bush.  In a statement released after Bush’s assault, Cruz said “I have great respect for George W. Bush, and was proud to work on his 2000 campaign and in his administration.  It’s no surprise that President Bush is supporting his brother and attacking the candidates he believes pose a threat to his campaign.  I have no intention of reciprocating.  I met my wife Heidi working on his campaign, and so I will always be grateful to him.”
