Giovanni Militano, an Oakland Raider fan and writer about the team for the “Last Word on NFL,” wrote a message to the Oakland Raiders’ starting quarterback Derek Carr about one of his family member’s struggle with cancer. Giovanni’s 3-year-old cousin Frankie has stage 4 cancer.
On Twitter, Giovanni said to Carr, “She would love anything you can do to brighten her spirit.” The sweet, 3-year-old girl is seen wearing a Raider jersey with Carr’s number, “4,” in one of the photos.
Carr’s response was so touching. He told Giovanni that him and his wife, Heather Carr, are praying for Frankie. He also asked his other fans on social media to pray for her, as well.
The star quarterback continued to encourage Giovanni by touching on faith and the power of God’s healing. He stated, “We are believing for healing! I’ve seen it with my own eyes so I know He can do it!”
This type of response is not unusual for Carr. The professional football player is very well-known for his Christian faith and kind heart. He consistently leads his team in prayer, has made headlines for a number of kind deeds, is very involved in the church, and has previously stated that he would like to be a pastor once he retires from the NFL.
In a later Tweet, Giovanni revealed that Frankie just completed surgery to remove three tumors. The surgeries reportedly went well and the 3-year-old will fly out to New York in November for additional treatment.
According to Cure Search, 43 children are diagnosed with cancer every day. Even though 12% of those children do not survive, as Christians, we believe that God is perfectly capable of healing because of our faith, His grace, and His love.
Please keep this family in your prayers today. May God comfort them during this difficult time and miraculously heal Frankie from this sickness! The bible says, “I am the Lord who heals you (Exodus 15:26).” God is able!
In breaking news, a music legend recently passed away. Please keep his loved ones in your prayers, as well. Thank you!
