Surrounded by his children and sisters, Sam Shepard passed away peacefully at his home in Kentucky. The famous director, and iconic actor, was only 73 years old.
According to reports, Sam had been battling ALS for a while before his death. However, the amazing life he lived will always be what he is remembered for the most.
Sam is the author of over 40 plays. He also wrote numerous short stories and books. New York magazine once called him “the greatest American playwright of his generation,” according to reports. Watch the video below to hear Sam talk about one of his newer movies.
Shepard is most well known to people from his roles in amazing Hollywood movies. He played in “Black Hawk Down,” “Mud,” “Sword Fish,” and “The Notebook.” Later in his life, he also became a teacher and gave back to future generations by passing on his wisdom.
“I wouldn’t call Sammy easygoing and funny, but everybody has their dark side, and he always does it with a sense of humor," said Sam's longtime partner, Jessica Lange.
