We conducted our first poll earlier this week. The question was a simple one: “Which candidate would you most support for the Republican nomination?”
The choices were the top six leading contenders in the latest polls from around the country: Donald Trump, Jeb Bush, Carly Fiorina, Ben Carson, Marco Rubio, and Ted Cruz.
600 people answered the call and took the vote. The top two vote recipients mirrored what the national polls showed. The bottom four is where things got interesting. The results are as follows.
Donald Trump – 35%
Ben Carson – 34%
Ted Cruz – 18%
Marco Rubio – 7%
Carly Fiorina – 3%
Jeb Bush – 2%
Trump and Carson are neck to neck as Carson has been steadily gaining on Trump. The real surprise in the poll was the surge of support for Ted Cruz. In our poll he is firmly in 3rd place. Fiorina’s star has seemed to have come back down to earth and Jeb Bush, despite his massive amounts of money, has alarmingly little support.
