Millions of people have recently seen a viral Christmas gift game that is circulating on social media. Now, experts are saying it is actually illegal.

The game is known as the "Secret Wine Bottle Exchange" and is gaining traction as Christmas approaches. According to the game, players are asked to invite their friends and send one bottle of win in the mail.

Then, users are supposed to receive up to 36 bottles for free! Sound too good to be true? That's because it is.

"While gift exchanges grow in popularity during the holiday season, BBB advises consumers to use caution when choosing one in which to participate," the organization said in a statement. "According to the U.S. Postal Inspection Service's gambling and pyramid scheme laws, gift chains like this are illegal and participants could be subject to penalties for mail fraud."
