As the mainstream media continues to focus on exposing any turmoil in the Trump administration, what sometimes gets lost is how bad of a couple weeks this has been for the Democratic Party. After the explosive revelation of Hillary Clinton’s involvement in the Russian Trump dossier came out, former Democratic National Committee head Donna Brazile — who admitted to feeding Hillary questions during a presidential debate — released information in her new book about how exactly the election was rigged against Sen. Bernie Sanders by his own party.
In her book “Hacks: The Inside Story of the Break-ins and Breakdowns That Put Donald Trump in the White House,” Brazile claimed that Hillary was given free reign of the DNC in exchange for Hillary’s campaign helping alleviate the party’s $24 million in debt from Obama’s last presidential run, according to Fox News. Hillary then used her power over the Democratic Party to unfairly defeat Sanders.
It was a bombshell accusation from Brazile, but Fox News said NBC, CBS, and ABC only responded with crickets when the news broke. President Trump himself also noticed the media silence.
As for CNN, they did latch onto the story and had anchor Jake Tapper get Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s take on it. She seemed reticent at first to answer his question about Hillary’s role.
“We learned today from former Democratic National Committee chairwoman Donna Brazile that the Clinton campaign, in her view, did rig the presidential nominating process by entering into an agreement to control day-to-day operations at the DNC,” Tapper said. “The Clinton campaign controlling the party’s staffing, strategy, financing, communications. And that agreement was entered into in August 2015, a year before she defeated Senator Bernie Sanders. This must shock you!”
"This is a real problem," Warren admitted. "But what we've got to do as Democrats now is we've got to hold this party accountable. When Tom Perez was first elected chair of the DNC, the very first conversation I had with him is to say, 'You have got to put together a Democratic Party in which everybody can have confidence the party is working for Democrats, rather than Democrats are working for the party.'”
She continued, “And he's being tested now. This is a test for Tom Perez. And either he's going to succeed by bringing Bernie Sanders and Bernie Sanders representatives into this process, and they're going to say 'It's fair, it works, we all believe it' — or he's going to fail. And I very much hope he succeeds.”
“Do you agree with the notion that it was rigged?” Tapper insisted.
“Yes,” she answered simply before Tapper ended the interview, not asking any follow-up questions.
