Recently, our nation has become even more divided than ever. NFL players have decided to take a knee during the singing of the national anthem in protests over what they feel is social and racial injustice in America.
Social media has been filled with posts from people on both sides of the issue. However, after one singer took the stage last night, people are now discussing something else.
Jordin Sparks is a phenomenal singer who has sang the national anthem at numerous sporting events. When she decided to sing it during last night’s game in Arizona, for the Cowboys vs. Cardinals match, Sparks did something awesome.
Instead of kneeling or talking about the protest, Sparks wrote a Bible verse on her hand. As she held the microphone up to sing, the verse was prominently displayed, causing thousands to research it.
The verse written on her hand was Proverbs 31: 8-9. Many people praised her for her outspoken faith and using her platform to turn people to the Bible.
“Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy,” as written in Proverbs.
