Louisiana's senatorial runoff between Democratic incumbent Senator Mary Landrieu and Republican Bill Cassidy is attracting nationwide attention, and public figures are choosing sides.
Duck Dynasty's Phil Robertson announced his support of Bill Cassidy. Robertson will appear alongside former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin at a GOP unity rally on Saturday afternoon.
The runoff is required because no candidate received 50% or more of the votes. Landrieu's 42% barely surpassed Cassidy's 41%.
The Washington Post has forecast a 98% chance Republican candidate Cassidy will win; The New York Times has given Cassidy an 85% chance, according to a recent Western Journalism article.
The support of a popular conservative figure like Robertson adds to the likelihood. The U.S. Senate just may have another conservative member my next January.
