Throughout his presidential campaign, Donald Trump has not bowed down to political correctness, nor has he backed down from statements that some consider to be inflammatory. Instead, when confronted about his statements, Trump tends to double down on them.
On Thursday, Trump sat down with Anderson Cooper on CNN and was asked if he thought that Islam was at war with the west. “I think Islam hates us,” Trump told Cooper. “There’s something there, a tremendous hatred there. There’s a tremendous hatred. We have to get to the bottom of it. There is an unbelievable hatred of us.”
Cooper asked Trump if the “hatred” was in Islam itself. Trump replied that Cooper would have to “figure that out.”
“We have to be very vigilant.” Trump continued. “And we can’t allow people coming into this country who have hatred of the United States.”
