Donald Trump traveled to Missouri today in order to announce his effort to pass tax reform. The president announced that he wants to overhaul the tax code in order to boost the American middle-class.
"We're here today to launch our plans to bring back Main Street by reducing the crumbling burden on our companies and on our workers," Trump said. "The foundation of our job creation agenda is to fundamentally reform our tax code for the first time in more than 30 years."
President Trump began his speech with a word of encouragement to those suffering. He called the storm "deeply tragic" and assured the victims and their families that the nation is sending their prayers.
"All of America is grieving with you and our hearts are joined with you forever," he said.
CNN has reported that the Trump administration has been proposing tax reform since April, proposing that tax brackets be simplified and slashed. Previously, Trump has advocated that the corporate tax be lowered to 15%. He has also called for income tax brackets to be set at 10%, 25%, and 35%.
This will significantly excite fiscal conservatives in the Republican Party, who will be thrilled at the possibility of passing the biggest tax cut in American history.
